Friday, November 11th, 2022, from 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM.
A premier VIP event, Death & Hope is an immersive pre-Saturnalia larp that will take place in New Orleans on Friday, November 11, 2022, (the day before the Saturnalia event) and focus on themes of Vampire: the Masquerade in the Fifth Edition setting. You will start your evening by participating in a workshop to familiarize you with safety and consent mechanics and the role of your character. After the workshop you will join others onboard the City of New Orleans steamboat for a one-of-a-kind experience!
To help maintain the Masquerade a dinner–including hors d'oeuvres, grande fete dining, and an open bar–will be provided from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM after which the City of New Orleans steamboat will sail down the Mississippi river for a 2-hour cruise.
As the ship sails, you will take part in the unique funeral of an elder performed by real practitioners of Louisiana voodoo while you enjoy personal roleplaying experiences. When the steamboat returns, you will be led to a second location in the French Quarter, where you can decompress from the event and your character can engage in Courier Services by sending or receiving secret messages to avoid the notice of the Second Inquisition! Tickets are limited!
This is an add-on to the Saturnalia Larp on Saturday November 12th. You must have a ticket to the main larp to take part in this experience.
- You will receive a survey prior to the event to prepare you for the Death & Hope pre-larp experience. The survey will include questions about your character to help facilitate a specific tie to Death & Hope. You may play your character you are portraying in Saturnalia, or another one if that is of interest to you.
- For event continuity, Death & Hope is happening in-and-out-of-character the day before Saturnalia, so please keep this in mind.
- The steamboat will be on water so if you get seasick please take adequate precautions.
- Content warnings for this event are: suicide, alcohol, and loss.
